Freedom Boat Club Vs Carefree Boat Club

If you have any familiarity with boat clubs, chances are that you have already encountered the two most-popular boat clubs.

In this article, we compare the Freedom boat club and the Carefree boat club to see how they stack up!

Here are some numbers and facts to consider:

Carefree Boat Club

Heres what you need to know!

Before you decide which boat club is the right fit for you, make sure you understand what each one has to offer.

You might just find that one is a far better fit for your individual needs and desires.

These two companies feature locations at marinas across the United States and Canada. They each boast a unique set of attributes that sets them apart from one another, but they also share some important similarities.

How Many Boats Do Boat Club Members Get Access To

The amount and variety of boats a boat club member will receive access to depends on a variety of factors. For example, a smaller boat club serving a lakeside community will have a different fleet than an oceanside boat club. Keep in mind that youll have more options in a boat club that serves a larger community, such as a popular tourist destination.

One thing to keep in mind with boat clubs is that members must reserve their boat time beforehand. During peak times, such as weekends or major holidays like the Fourth of July, there may be limited availability for the most popular boats.

However, the vast majority of boat clubs dont have a limit on how often you can rent a boat. Boat club members can often reserve specific boat months out in advance in order to celebrate special events, enjoy a relaxing vacation on the water, or spend time with family coming in from out of town.

Because each boat club operates differently, you should research the fleet size, reservation system, and holiday availability of each boat club youre considering joining.

The Truth About Freedom Boat Club

I almost didnt do it

Growing up we always had a boat and recently Ive been itching to get one.

But then I started crunching the numbers

You need to pay for the down payment, monthly payments, registration, insurance, maintenance, trailer, and storage, among other things.

Plus, you only have one boat.

What if I want to take my kids out tubing, or go bass fishing, or get into some skinny water looking for snook and redfish?

One type of boat is not ideal for the variety of activities we like to do on the water

Which lead me to Freedom Boat Club.

Id heard lots of misinformation about Freedom Boat Club regarding their prices, the number of times you can take their boats out, etc., so Freedom Boat Club wasnt even on my radar for the longest time

But the price of getting my own boat made me reevaluate my options.

In this podcast episode, I have my man Alex Anchor from the Winter Haven Freedom Boat Club to help talk about the pros, cons, and misconceptions when it comes to Freedom Boat Club.

Im not getting paid by them and this is not a sponsored post, but Salt Strong is all about helping you make memories on the water with your loved ones and this is one of the best deals Ive done when it comes to boating and fishing.

Ive been enjoying being a part of the Club and I just wanted to share this with you in hopes of clearing up some misconceptions.

The salary trajectory of a Boat Club Manager ranges between locations and employers. The salary starts at $90,725 per year and goes up to $183,076 per year for the highest level of seniority.

How Do I Join Freedom Boat Club

Joining a boat club is as simple as providing your details and then paying for the one-time fee and the monthly membership fee. If you travel a lot, you need a boat club with boats in different places around the country so that you can use your membership to the fullest.

Freedom Boat Club requires you to choose your location, give your name, and then continue to pay a one-time payment and a monthly membership fee. The one-time payment varies based on several factors and so does the monthly payment.

How much is Freedom Boat Club a month? The Freedom Boat Club one-time payment is about $5,000 . From there, you will pay a monthly fee of between $300 and $700.

It may sound like you are paying a lot to be a member, but this is more than 60% cheaper than owning your boat. Once you pay that amount, you never have to deal with boat storage, wrapping, maintenance, and towing.

The entry fee varies based on the market situation. The entry fee is also different in different locations as the market varies from one market to the next. If the boats are in a popular boating destination, you may have to pay a higher entry fee.

The boat club pays higher marina charges, including slip fees and office space than they would in other locations. If you live in a large metropolitan market, be ready to pay a higher fee.

Once you pay the needed fees, you will have unlimited access to a boat. You can book as many times as you need. However, you have to reserve a boat in time.

Why Are Membership Costs Variable

Having read the above, you might be wondering why Freedom membership costs are so variable depending on location.

This is a fair question with an equally fair answer: the boating market is vastly different in some areas of North America compared to others.

Certain U.S. states and cities are much more popular for boating than others. For example, San Francisco is an incredibly popular boating destination, so the Freedom Boat Club in Florida sells its memberships for higher prices than some of the less sought-after membership locations.

But its not just about supply and demand. Freedom Boat Club has over 300 branches in operation currently, and some are disproportionately affected by external factors such as weather conditions.

Therefore, some Freedom Boat Club branches will operate on a seasonal basis only as opposed to year-round, which will evidently result in a difference in membership fees.

Certain Freedom Membership Clubs also offer the option for weekend memberships, which will be less expensive than a typical monthly membership because your opportunities to make use of the fleet are limited to Saturdays and Sundays.

Conversely, weekday-only memberships are available at some locations, which will also usually be cheaper than standard monthly packages.

If you want to find out exactly how much exactly a Freedom Boat Club membership costs in your area, the best way to proceed is to contact your local Club directly and ask about the membership plans and quotes.

How Long Beforehand Should I Make A Reservation

This is one of the most commonly asked questions about boat membership clubs. Will there be any boats available during the peak season? How far in advance should I book my reservation?

Both Carefree Boat Club and Freedom Boat Club try to stick to set ratios that ensure they have enough boats for all members to comfortably enjoy and experience being on the water. For every ten members, there should be one boat.

This ensures that every member has an opportunity to access their premier selection of boats.

There is a good possibility that you may be able to call your local marina and reserve a boat for the day of your trip. This is particularly true during the off-season when sailing is not quite as popular.

However, you may want to be safe rather than sorry if you know there are specific dates that you would like to use a boat.

At Freedom Boat Club, you can make up to four reservations through their online app up to six months in advance. You can also make reservations up to six months in advance at Carefree Boat Club.

What Are The Reasons To Vary The Onetime/ First Entry Fee

They make the cost of the onetime entry fee based on theirlocal market situations that vary regularly. For example, youre going to buy a20002-foot house in San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA.

Itll definitely cost much more than that of a house in Sarasota, FL.In the same way, if you want to be a member of a famous boating spot, you mustpay a bit more. Also, the franchise is facing competition for narrow slip spacein contrast to other entities.

These include their commercial and the boat owners interestin this concern. Thus, when a marina charges more fees for slip, dock, andoffice space, the franchise owners need more money to operate their boatingbusiness.

As a result, the onetime entry fee can vary widely from alarger metropolitan area to a smaller one.

What Are The Rules About Footwear

The new Freedom Boat Club fleet is in! Come see us in ...

Many boat clubs do not have hard and fast rules about footwear, but you will want to take a common-sense approach to it. Some types of shoes can easily damage the interior of the boat, and you may be charged for this damage.

The easiest thing to do is to make sure that your shoes are clean before entering the boat. This means wiping them off on a mat at the dock or simply removing them before you step onto the deck of the boat. If you are going to wear shoes, make sure you stick with soft-soled options such as flip flops or tennis shoes.

Another helpful hint is to avoid shoes with dark soles. These can cause scuff marks across the deck that is difficult to get rid of.

Quite often, people find that they are most comfortable without their shoes while navigating through the open water.

Consider bringing a small bin for all of your passengers to safely stash their shoes while you are enjoying an afternoon on the boat. Most people will already be wearing flip flops during the peak season, and these are easily cast aside.

You should also avoid putting shoes on the upholstery, as this can cause wear and tear. Similar to your rules at home, you would not expect guests to stand on your furniture with shoes on. Extend the same courtesy to the boat that you happen to be using.

New Jersey is a place of adventure when it comes to boating. There are 127 miles of coastline and hundreds of miles of bay-shore. Beyond that, there are inland lakes and tributaries. Most of the states counties, 17 out of 21, border saltwater.

The state makes it pretty easy to get boater safety education, certifications and meet other requirements.

They host boating events and do all the applications for those events, so you have little to do in preparation other than show up and register.

For The Freedom Boat Club More Flow On The Water In 2021

DEEP RIVER, Conn. Think of it like Zip Cars.

Thats according to Dick Cromwell, the owner of the Freedom Boat Club, a boat share business that, he says, has bloomed since the COVID-19 pandemic began.

Cromwell runs the Freedom Boat Club out of seven marinas in Connecticut, giving members the chance to get out on the water without having to own a boat. You come down, take a boat and have fun, Cromwell said, then you hand us the keys and walk away.

Cromwell typically offers boats in the 22 to 24-foot range and members can take advantage of the service across the country. Cromwell added that due to the desire for so many to socially distance and find an escape, he has seen steady growth. We were one of the few things that people could do that was Covid safe, he said.

Members pay a $3,900-dollar one-time initiation fee, and then about $400 dollars a month for the luxury of using a boat when they want. Theres none of the headaches of maintenance plus its less money than owning a boat, said Cromwell.

Bart Crossman, the lead salesman for the Freedom Boat Club said, you can get out on the water its a whole different world. Cromwell, who runs the Freedom Boat Club franchise in both Connecticut and Rhode Island added, its going to be a very busy year out on the water but its going to be fun.
