How Much Do Boat Clubs Cost In Florida

Can You Live On A Boat In Florida

How much will maintenance cost for my boat?

Live Aboard in Tampa Bay, Florida While Florida offers dozens and dozens of great places to live aboard a boat in terms of climate and conditions, know this going in: The cost of insurance and the many laws that govern onboard living in the state can be too onerous for some would-be liveaboard folks.

What Is Not Include In The Freedom Boat Club Membership Fee

There are many perks for becoming a Freedom Boat Club member. However, there is one thing that is not covered by any Freedom Boat Club plan. It is the fuel.

Freedom Boat clubs make use of fuel flow meters. When you check out from the dock, a fuel flow meter is initiated. This will then be reviewed upon return to determine the amount of fuel consumed. This means that FBC only charges you for the fuel used during your outing.

Several Freedom Boat Club franchises also offer optional programs. These programs may include special insurance coverage. They can also include towing provisions.

At the dock, someone will assist you with boarding, check-in, dock departure, and returns. Freedom Boat Club has a dedicated professional dock staff for all members. They will also assist you when it comes to loading and unloading your gear.

Members can tip them for their service. While tipping is fully done at the members discretion, FBC nonetheless encourages members to tip them.

Why Does The Cost Of The One

The cost of the one-time membership fee is based upon local market conditions, and those can vary widely.

Just as a 2000-square foot house in Seattle, WA or San Francisco, CA would cost significantly more than the same house in Sarasota, FL or Clemson, SC, marina costs can differ vastly from market to market.

If an FBC franchise is operating in a popular boating destination, the marina operator can command top dollar. The franchise owner is competing for limited slip space against other entities, including boat owners or other commercial interests. The more a marina charges for slip fees, dock and office space, etc., the more costly it is for the FBC franchise owner to operate the business. This means that the one-time entry fee is generally higher in larger metropolitan markets.

Is A Boat Club Like A Country Club

A boat club operates in a similar fashion to a country club: for a monthly fee, members have reserved access to a fleet of boats on local lakes and some other destinations as well. So what are the differences between boat ownership and boat club membership, and how do you decide which option is better for you?

Free Or Unlimited : 1 Training

Freedom Boat Club offers free or unlimited training for its members. This training is conducted by the licensed captains of the U.S. Coast Guard. Through this training, FBC exhibits its commitment to the boating safety of its members.

As a Freedom Boat Club member, you will not be able to go boating unless you have attended the training. Before the one-on-one training, a captain will orient you about your states boating regulations in a classroom setup. The captain will also discuss FBC guidelines, rules, and regulations.

Then, they will provide you with hands-on training and orientation. The coverage includes the following:

  • Open-water navigation strategies,
  • Close-quarter navigation techniques, and
  • Docking maneuvers when it comes to on-water training.

Dont expect the training and orientation to be a short one. It is an extensive and comprehensive training session. Freedom Boat Club designed it in such a way that members will not only learn about how to be safe while boating. But members will also learn how to be confident boaters.

Freedom Boat Club Training is unlimited. In case you need a refresher session, it is possible. If you are looking for advanced boating sessions, FBC conducts these too. You can inquire through FBC membership executives about this.

Boat Clubs In Florida You Should Know

Joining a boat club is a great way to gain access to a fleet of boats without the need for hefty financial investments or laborious maintenance on a ship. Around the peninsula of Florida, several different boat clubs will allow you to rent their boats in exchange for a monthly fee. Knowing which ones are available and what they can offer helps you to make a wise commitment.

If you have been thinking of joining a boat club in Florida, here are a few examples that you should know about.

Are Boating Clubs Worth It

Joining a boat club will mean no more maintenance or seasonal headaches with your boat, no more slip fees, and no more driving a trailer around. So if your boat is already paid for, then joining a boat club may be an extra monthly cost the money you get from selling it may only pay for a few years membership.

How Do Boat Clubs Work

Boat clubs allow members to access a boat from their fleet after paying a monthly fee. A member can reserve a boat for a specific day and time and the club will ensure they have that boat for their boating needs. The club takes care of boats maintenance and insurance, and they also teach members how to boat.

If you do not have the money to buy and maintain a boat, boat club memberships allow you inexpensive access to a boat. This comes in handy for new boaters who are not sure whether boating is the right hobby for them. Before you buy a boat that you may only use a few times every year, try joining a boat club.

If you are new to boating, the boat club offers training to start you off with boating. There are several other perks that may come with a boat club membership, including slides and skis among other water toys.

You do not have to boat alone when you can join other boaters at the club and make new friends. The gatherings can be a great place to learn more about boating and make a few new friends.

How many boats do you have access to? If you join a small boat club serving a community by the lake, you will have access to only a few boats. However, if you join an Oceanside club serving tourists and larger communities, you will have access to several boats.

The Freedom Boat Club is one of the oldest boat clubs, and they have a variety of boats, including cruisers, bow riders, deck boats, and fishing boats. Such a club doesnt restrict the boat you take out each time.

What Is Included In The Boat Membership Price

Does Freedom Boat Club Offer Membership Specials or ...

This question really does depend on the specific boat club and which location is closest to you. For most of the leading boat clubs, you gain unlimited access to their entire fleet of boats across the country.

Each location will have a unique lineup, but you should have several makes and models to choose from.

The monthly fee paid toward your dues includes any insurance that you may require, safety lessons on how to use the boat properly, and slip fees.

The only thing that it does not cover is the cost of fuel.

It would be hard for a boating club to factor fuel into the monthly fees as this can vary depending on which boat you choose and how far you sail.

Many boat clubs also include complimentary access to water toys such as tubes or wakeboards. Be sure to inquire if this is something that interests you.

The Average Slip Cost In Different Us Locations:

  • Regular docking slips in the US range from $12 – $50/ft per year.
  • Prime locations in the US cost between $120/ft per year to $240/ft per year.
  • One of the most expensive marinas is Marina del Rey, which can cost from $192 – $384/ft per year.
  • Canada is cheaper, with a prime Toronto dock location running at $102/ft per year.
  • Transient moorings in the US seem to average at about $20 – $45 per night, regardless of length.
  • Annual mooring rates seem to average at about $80 – $250 per year, regardless of length.
Regular anchorage
$3,600 $17,280

Regular docking slips are simple berths in small marinas. Their location is remote, in small towns along the entire coastline. Most of these marinas don’t have premium services and don’t provide access to popular sailing waters.

Prime locations are larger cities and bays, like San Fransisco Bay, Los Angeles, Florida, or San Diego. These marinas offer lots of premium services and provide access to the most popular coastal sailing waters.

Some popular marinas have long waiting lists, and they want you to give a waiting list deposit. Marina del Rey charges about $150.

Also, add another $25-50 deposit for your security key and car parking card.

Catamarans are up to 20% more expensive to dock .

Renting a mooring in low season can be up to 70% cheaper. Not all marinas have high and low seasons, but many in the Meds do, for example. But they’re cheap for a reason: sailing just isn’t as great that time of year there.

How Much Do Boat Clubs Typically Cost

If youre considering becoming a new fishing boat owner, or perhaps youre planning on getting a cruiser, you might be wondering if there is a less expensive alternative like boat clubs.

Boats can be costly. Even if you can afford the initial purchase, can you afford docking fees, maintenance, fuel, and all the required gear you need to hit the water?

When I bought my first boat, the salesman laughed and reminded me of an old saying: BOAT stands for Be Only Another Thousand. This little euphemism was a subtle reminder that nothing on a boat is cheap. I wasnt too worried because I had only purchased a small fishing boat.

But I saw the potential for huge expenses. You might have heard that boat clubs are ideal for avoiding huge costs and paying only a fixed fee to enjoy time on the water. What is the average boat club cost?

Instead of wondering on your own, lets find the answer so you can stop dreaming and start enjoying your boating lifestyle.

No washing, no gassing, no storing. Only fun! You cant beat boat club membership, but it can be difficult to choose which option is best for you and your family.

How Much Does It Cost To Dock A Boat For A Year

Before buying your first boat you probably want to know how much it will cost you each year. So did I, so I checked hundreds of slips, and here are the numbers I came up with.

How much does it cost to dock a boat for a year? An average sailboat costs between $800 – $1,800 per year. The price depends on location, season, and length of the boat. On average, a dock slip in the US costs anywhere between $12/ft per year to $240/ft per year, with an average of roughly $50/ft per year.

Renting a spot at a marina is called ‘renting a slip’ or ‘renting a berth’. But there are other types of berths available as well, which can save you a lot of money.

What were you doing before this? I retired from a career in the car-rental industry in Orlando and Sarasota.

Why did you start this venture here? When we got to the point of where we wanted to do it with Freedom Boat Club, all of Florida was taken except for this general area. We were knowledgeable about the area, and we had property in Brevard County. I had thought about doing it on my own 10 years ago, and it’s a good thing I didn’t.

I recognized there was a need, but I didn’t know how to go about it. Without the foundation of the company and the website and corporate knowledge and experience, I would have been very fortunate to have been able to succeed.
