Can I Raise The Height Of My Boat Lift Top Beams Without Changing My Pilings As My Lift Is At An Awkward Height

Answer: Yes, a pile riser can be installed on top of the pilings. This allows the top beam on the lift to be raised. This allows for easier boarding of the boat as well as the ability to raise the boat further out of the water. The aluminum pile riser is bolted into the piling and serves as an extension of the piling.

How About The Boatlift Frame Construction

You need a durable frame construction to withstand the boat weight and pressures from the waveWelded side frames prevent any lateral movement in the lift. With age, every time you put your boat on them, bolted side frames move laterally. This will eventually result in enlarged bolt holes, rusted bolts, and loose nuts from the movement of the side frames.

Welded Areas on Side Frames

Compare to other manufacturers

Most brands use bolts everywhere, so shipping is less expensive. The more bolts used in the side frames, the weaker the entire structure is. By comparison, the ShoreMaster boatlift with welded side frames prevents lateral movement.

Only ShoreMaster boatlifts have a welded V frame to make access to your boat easier. You do not have to crawl over a horizontal bar to get into your boat.

Work Smarter Not Harder

DONT go into the cold waterDONT spend hours strugglingDONT reattach anything and DONT break your back or lift anything!

Leave the Boat Lift Helper attached to your boat lift. Whenever you need to move the boat lift, simply refill the air-lift-bags and float your boat lift into a new position.

How Many Amps Does The Motor Draw

For boat lifts that operate with a ¾ horsepower motor at 110 Volts it will typically draw 12.5 Amps and at 220 Volts it will typically draw 7.5 Amps. For boat lifts that operate with a 1 horsepower motor at 110 Volts it will typically draw 14.5A and at 220 Volts it will typically draw 8.5 Amps.

For a boat lift with multiple motors, these numbers can be simply multiplied by the number of motors to determine how many Amps you can expect the boat lift to draw when operating.

What Size Boat Lift Do I Need

Hydrofin creates the pontoon lift you need – What determines the lifting force?

There are many factors to consider when choosing a boat lift for your waterfront property, and among the most important of these is the size and capacity of the lift system youll need to accommodate your vessel. Accurately assessing the weight and width of your watercraft is essential to ensuring a lift systems longevity as well as the safety of its operation.

Its best to determine what the maximum weight of your watercraft will be to ensure your lift system can always manage the load. This involves determining the dry weight of your watercraft, which includes the fuel, water carried in areas such as livewells, gear, and other factors. This should be outlined in the manufacturer specifications for your watercraft. However, youll also need to account for any non-factory additions made to your boat. Additionally, youll want to consider any loose items you store on your boat, such as supplies and watersport gear. Even the weight of smaller items can add up. Finally, it is best to leave yourself some breathing room by purchasing a boat lift with a capacity that is more than you expect youll ever need.

After determining the required boat lift capacity, youll also need to work out the required cradle width. This involves measuring the beam of your watercraft, which is essentially the widest part of your boat. With this information, you should also consider the water depth where your boat lift will go to ensure it can be lowered safely.

What Is A Boat Lift & Do I Need One

New and old boat owners alike often wonder, “What is a boat lift? Is it even necessary to have one?” Boat lifts actually serve a very important purpose for your watercraft regardless of your location, the size of your boat or the body of water it will be used in. In almost any situation, a quality boat lift is crucial to the lifespan of your boat and equipment. The following are some of the many benefits of a boat lift.

Free Standing Boat Lift Motors

We call these motors free standing to give them an identity and because the industry does not have a name that is commonly used to refer to these motors. In fact, the term boat lift motor is so generic in the industry and online that many lift owners have trouble knowing what to ask for. These motors have low horsepower and attach to the same winch that comes with freestanding lifts, such as ShoreMaster, Hewett, Shore Station, and Craftlander, just to name a few. Freestanding boat lift motors just replace the hand crank wheel on lifts listed above.

With a wide variety of boat lift motors, we are sure that we have the perfect boat lift motor for you. If you have any questions or concerns regarding which boat lift motor you need, dont hesitate to contact the pros at Boat Lift Warehouse. See you on the water!

Picking out the right lift starts with understanding the specifications for your boat. When you meet with our team, we will ask you a few key questions to narrow down the options. Heres what we want to know:

  • Do you have AC power down by your dock?
  • How do you plan on getting the lift in and out each season?

Congratulations, you have arrived at beautiful Lake of the Ozarks and found the lake home of your dreams. You have a boat, and a dock, but have you given much thought to a lift?

You should. Boat lifts aren’t glamorous, but they can make all the difference in determining how much you really get to enjoy the Lake life!

It may seem like the boat or lift is only used on a few of the big weekends every season, but actually the lake is always using them. With wind, wave or wake the lift is moving, supporting and protecting your boat. Without the right boat lift, much of what you’ve invested at the Lake can be in jeopardy.

Here are six things to consider when you’re shopping for a boat lift.

One important factor to consider when purchasing a boat lift is location.

Think Youre Done Not Quite Yet

Now add a margin of safety. This is usually between 10% and 20%. At this point, we select the next higher capacity for your lift. Why the need for all this? Heres a simple example of why we do this.

A man picks up a ball. For our purposes, lets say it weighs ¼ #. This presents no problem.

Next, the same ball is coming towards him at 90 mph. It hits him. It hits him. Do you think the ball feels like it weighs only 1/4 #? Obviously, the moving object will have the effect of more weight even though it still weighs just ounces.

Why the comparison? Many times in a storm, the waves will wash against the bottom of a boat. In severe storms, the boat may actually bounce up and down on the lift as the wave rolls across the bottom. Now you have a boat weighing 2,500 3,200 pounds bouncing up and down. The added weight of the boat at this time may result in a cable breaking. This situation is especially true if the lift was not properly sized originally or the cables are not in good shape. In severe cases, the boat may be washed off the lift completely. A future post will address the insurance issue watch for it.

Will the lift be able to take the shock of that bouncing? Thats why we go to the next size up. This is a common cause of cable failure. These shocks could cause a cable to break if they have rust or frayed strands. For more information SEE

Will I Benefit From A Shallow Water/kicked Cradle

Answer: If the water depth is deeper on one side of your slip than the other, a shallow water cradle will more than likely benefit you. Measure the depth at the center of the lift piling on the shallow side of your slip and compare it to the depth 3′ into your slip. This depth difference tells you how much water depth benefit you will get from electing a shallow water cradle.

Lifts that are located parallel to or on an angle in relation to the seawall generally benefit from a shallow water cradle. As the water depth on the outside of the lift closer to the center of the canal is generally deeper than the water depth close to the seawall. If your lift is oriented 90 degrees off the seawall the shallow water cradle more than likely will not help you for a water depth utilization purposes.
