Cast A Line On A Group Fishing Charter
Save a buck aboard a group fishing boat
Departing from: Las Olas Marina | Perfect for everyone | Go Fishing with Catch My Drift
Private fishing charters are wildly expensive. So for a much more inexpensive experience, yet thrilling fishing adventure, consider booking a spot on a group fishing charter. The boats are much bigger and youll be competing with many more fishermen, but itll get you on the water and casting a line for an affordable price.

Explore Las Olas Isles In A Kayak Or Paddleboard
A paddle tour around Fort Lauderdales canals
Departing from:Victoria Park Kayak Launch | Perfect for everyone | Book a paddle tour with SUP PUP
For a more intimate experience, ditch the motor and propel yourself forward on a SUP or kayak throughout Fort Lauderdale. My favorite route is the Las Olas Isles, a scenic, yet peaceful neighborhood featuring mangrove channels, beautiful catamarans, waterfront mansions, and expensive yachts.
The best-guided tour of the area is conducted by SUP PUP, a dynamic duo of a local woman and her puppy, Mr. Beaches. The two provide SUP instruction, safety measures, quirky narration, and a wonderful tour of the Las Olas Isles.

Part of Fort Lauderdales ambiance is the stark contrast between the citys luxuriousness and its docks serving as home to many salty sailors. Among the marinas, youll find old Caribbean cronies eager to set sail up and down the South Florida coast for the afternoon, depart on overnight trips to the Bahamas, or take you aboard for a week-long excursion to the southernmost city, Key West.

Your Guide To Fort Lauderdale
Depending on your choice of activities, you can certainly make your way around town without a car. Between the Water Taxi, Sun Trolley, and Broward BCycle public bike sharing network, you can likely get to the hot spots with minimal need for a car. If you do opt for longer jaunts, you might want to rent a car or consider using a rideshare or taxi.
Fort Lauderdale is warmer than a lot of places in winter, with daytime temperatures between December and April ranging from the high 50s°F to the mid 80s°F. So if your hometown has icy winters, this is a great place to escape to. You’ll be able to enjoy the stunning beaches close to the city without dealing with the crowds of summer. And yes, it will still be warm enough to wear your favorite bikini or boardshorts.
Fort Lauderdale is a great place for summery clothes throughout most of the year, but you should definitely bring some different layers in the cooler months. You’ll also want:
- Sandals: There’s a high likelihood you’ll be seeing a lot of the beach, so make sure you have the right footwear. Sand in socks is the worst.
- Walking shoes: Bring comfy ones for walking in town and in the parklands, ideally hiking sneakers or boots.
- Deodorant and antiperspirant: Yes, we recommend both because this is Florida and that means one word: humidity. Need we say more?
- Waterproof pouch for phone and camera: Keep out the sand and moisture.

Paddle Your Way Up And Down The New River
Aboard the PaddlePub in Fort Lauderdale
Departing from: Public Dock on New River | Perfect for small parties and groups of people | Who? PaddlePub Fort Lauderdale
One of my favorite Fort Lauderdale boat tours is the PaddlePub. Dont worry though, there is a working engine onboard once you get tired, but nonetheless, why not help a bit? The company operates as a private charter only at an affordable price per head, making it the perfect option for birthday parties or special occasions.

When Is The Best Time For A Boat Trip In Fort Lauderdale
Sub-tropical Fort Lauderdale is a warm year-round destination, and particularly popular with visitors looking for a winter getaway in the sun. As a result, December April is high season, so do book ahead to avoid disappointment as it does get busy here.
Summer can be hot with unpredictable weather, but this is still a great time to travel. Just plan on plenty of water activities to keep cool, and be prepared for occasional afternoon thunderstorms. Pack a jacket as well as sun protection if you intend to travel during this time.
Fall brings slightly cooler and more settled weather, which makes this an ideal time for boat trips without the crowds. The water remains warm enough to swim in too.
Fort Lauderdale boat tours operate throughout the day, with evening sunset trips being particularly romantic.
