We have set up a quick and easy boat donation process where we take care of almost all procedures for the convenience of our donors.
After you contact us either by phone or filling out our online donation form, telling us you want to donate a boat without a trailer, we will make an arrangement with our affiliate towing company in your area to pick up your boat for free at a time and place most convenient to you. You will receive from us a donation receipt that will release you from all liabilities from that point onward.
We will then sell your boat at auction. Within 30 days after the sale, we will mail you your 100 percent tax-deductible sales receipt, indicating your donated boats final selling price. This will serve as the basis of your tax deduction claim when you file your itemized federal tax return for the next tax-filing season.

The best time to auction a boat is between May and August.
In order to avoid high processing costs and potential losses in the Spring, we ask that your boat then be dropped off with a trailer at our nearest drop off location. If a drop off is not possible, please note that most of our agents do not have the equipment necessary for towing and storing vessels.
If you are unable to drop the boat off, but you have a trailer to include in the donation, please proceed with your submission and we will explore our available options.
What We Accept As Boat Donations
Are you worried that the old watercraft you intend to donate no longer has any good value and that we might not accept it? No need to feel that way with us! Well gladly take your boat with open arms regardless of its condition!
Unlike other organizations that have their own boat donation programs, we are open to vessels that are hardly functioning and have damaged parts. You can even donate a boat without a trailer. Boat Donation Statement Of Significant Intervening Use
Once you have decided that Community Boating Center is a good fit for your boat donation, there is some official paperwork that needs to be completed by law. In particular, IRS form 1098-C Contributions of Motor Vehicles, Boats, and Airplanes will be completed by CBC. One copy will be sent to the IRS, you will receive a copy, and CBC will retain a copy for our files. Please note that your tax identification number is required for this form.
This form is fairly straightforward, however one item is particularly important in order for you to receive the full market value of your donation as a tax deduction as allowed by law The significant intervening use clause. Community Boating Center will certify, via IRS form 1098-C, that it intends to use vs. immediately sell the boat for profit. This distinction is important to the IRS and to your rights as a donor to see that the boat is used as you intended and to maximize your donation value as allowed by law.
