Get A Good Look At Niagara Falls
The first thing youll want to do when you get to Niagara falls with kids is to go see the falls!
Let this be the first of many times that you watch the water the falls take on a new look depending on the time of day and the weather conditions. And at night, the falls are illuminated with a rainbow of colored lights- definitely something you need to see
Is It The Niagara Falls Boat Tour Worth It
Absolutely. We’re not normally ones for over-touristy stuff, but this cruise is definitely worth your time and money. Being able to see the falls from river level is cool enough, but to actually go into the mist, hear the roar and feel the force of the water crashing around you is just spectacular.
If you only go to Niagara Falls for one day, and only do one thing, do this.

The Bird Kingdom is the largest indoor aviary in the world, comprising 50,000 square feet of tropical rainforest that houses more than 400 birds, many of which are free-flying. In addition to birds, Bird Kingdom also features reptilesâincluding pythons, tortoises, and lizardsâas well as bats. Other highlights include a nocturnal aviary and a special exhibit of colorful macaws. âA small display outlines some Niagara Falls history as well as that of the aviary building itself, which is the first poured concrete building in Canada that once served as a corset factory. Visitors should allow at least one hour to visit, and buying tickets online ahead of time is recommended because it will save you about 20% off the regular price. From the American Side
Do You Get Wet On A Niagara Falls Boat Tour
Yes, but you don’t have to. We chose to stand on the top deck, in the middle. We had our ponchos on, but honestly, we still got soaked, especially our legs and feet. The wind from the water lifted up the ponchos, so everything from hips down was soaked.
However, you can stand downstairs and inside on both the Hornblower boats and the Maid of the Mist boat tours, so you don’t HAVE to get wet. But you won’t get the same experience of the power of nature either.
Let’s be honest- getting soaked may not be the best look in the world but don’t let that put you off- it’s still a lot of fun.

The Illumination is an amazing event that must be experienced firsthand. It’s hard to describe the raw beauty of it to someone who hasn’t seen it firsthand.
There are hundreds of thousands of lights that seem to dance on the falls. At night, some fireworks were shot into the falls and then flowed down the falls like a waterfall of fire.
The Illumination is a program that runs all year round. The lights are set to turn on every night in the summer at around 7:00 PM and around 5:00 PM in the winter. During this time, the falls are lit up in different colour combinations. It’s a great display to see!

Safe Sailing With Niagara City Cruises
Get ready for an up-close and personal experience with the Canadian Horseshoe Falls, American Falls and the breathtaking Niagara Gorge. Feel safe with health and safety screenings, mobile entry, physical distancing, reduced guest capacity and increased sanitizing. For the safety of our guests and staff, passengers are required to wear face masks covering the nose and mouth.
Can I Use A Camera On The Niagara Falls Cruise
Sure you can. Couple of things to remember:
- Don’t drop it over the side- a wrist strap is invaluable, especially with a lot of people jostling for a view
- You won’t be able to set up a tripod, unless you go REALLY early and get a boat which is only half full. Even then, the boat is moving, so a tripod may not be much use
- It will probably get wet! We recommend this instead of ruining your camera!
