New Orleans Swamp Boat Tour

Swamp People We Are The Real Swamp People

The BEST Cajun Swamp Boat Tour in New Orleans | We Saw Alligators

For well over 150 years, the swamp and bayous of Louisiana have been our family’s home and backyard. For all of this time, we have trapped and hunted the fur-bearing animals that live in the marsh and swamp of Cajun Country.

We are family-owned and operated by three generations who still make their living in the swamp. Everything you see on TV about the swamp people, we still do today. We make a living hunting alligators, harvesting alligator eggs, hunting nutria, fishing crabs, catching fish, and trawling for shrimp in the bayous and lakes of Louisiana. Our family and our captains are all childhood friends who have grown up making their living in the same way.

The most valuable treasure we can ever leave our children and future generations is the love and knowledge we have for the swamp and marshes of Louisiana Cajun Country.

What Is The Best Time To Do A Swamp Tour

You can visit the swamp year-round. However, the best time to do a swamp tour is the fall when the weather is cooler, the foliage is beautiful, there are fewer mosquitos, and lots of animals are around!

During the summer months, the weather is hot, humid, and sticky plus, there are many mosquitos. BUT, all of the wildlife will be out and youll easily spot gators, birds, turtles, and snakes.

In springtime, the weather will be pleasant with lots of flowers in bloom. Most of the wildlife will be out and there will be fewer mosquitos than in summer.

You can actually join a swamp tour in New Orleans in the winter months as well. There will be a lot less foliage and since alligators like the warmer weather, they will be harder to spot.

However, youll be able to see deer, nutria, otters, minks, and birds. Make sure to dress warmly this time of year if joining an airboat swamp tour.
