After a shower in the head, make sure the window is open to allow the air to circulate. When doing laundry, ensure that items are super dry before folding and storing.

This link says it can also be used safely on outdoor cushions and I don’t know why you couldn’t also use it on your canvas boat cover. It contains no bleach so it is color safe. You don’t even have to scrub it–it works on its own with the help of wind and rain. We bought it at Home Depot.

How We Tested To Find The Best Canvas Cleaners
The 10ft-long sail cover was removed from the boom for ease.
The algae had grown heavily on the external underside of the sail cover, and less so on the drier upper sides.
We marked out 13 equal stripes across the width of the sail cover and labelled them, assigning one product to each strip.
Given the hazardous nature of some of these chemicals, we wore waterproofs, wellies and gloves, and spread a plastic sheet under the sail cover to stop leakage into the sea.
We then followed the instructions on the packaging as closely as possible, taking care to avoid contaminating adjacent sections.
Where scrubbing was prescribed, this was done for two minutes.
We then hung up the cover to dry and compared before-and-after photos to establish which had produced the best results.
Of the 13 spaces, three were control sections using common household products: non-biological washing powder, washing-up liquid and plain water.
Drying Out The Tent After Each Use
One of the best things to do to prevent the growth of mold and mildew on your canvas tent is to let it;dry out completely;in the sun after every use and before folding or storing it.
Drying out the canvas reduces moist areas on which the fungi can potentially develop. If canvas is folded and stored before the canvas completely dries out, it can retain moisture and may lead to a nasty surprise the next time you unfold your wall tent.
At times when it isnt ideal or there isnt enough time to completely dry out the tent at camp, roll it up loosely instead and allow it to continue to dry at the next possible opportunity by spreading it out completely without setting it up again.

There are several ways to remove mold and mildew on the occasion that they begin to grow on your canvas wall tent.
Removing Mild Cases of Mold and Mildew
For light cases of mold and mildew that are just beginning to grow and spread, a simple vinegar solution will suffice. Simply spray the mold and mildew directly with distilled white vinegar and let it sit. Vinegar is a natural cleaner that will work to kill off all mold and mildew spores.
Another simple way to clean your canvas tent is by gently scrubbing it with lemon, salt, and hot water. Lemon and salt are also both natural cleaners, and the combination will help you remove the mold and mildew from the canvas.
This natural combination is also preferred to soap or other detergents as they can be harsh and difficult to remove from the canvas, whereas salt and lemon simply dry without any residual smell nor soap deposits.
Using Cleaners for Tougher Jobs
Cleaners made intentionally for cleaning mold and mildew from canvas tents are also available for the toughest jobs that vinegar cant handle on its own. As with everything to do with boats, every situation is different. When one potential solution doesnt work, try another one.
What weve found that works best, when living on the boat, is to air out the boat as much as possible. If were going to go out for the day we open as many windows as possible. We also have fans going to move the air around. When were cooking or boiling water, we always make sure to open a window. Finally, if I ever see condensation on the windows and/or frames around the windows I wipe it off immediately.

How Do I Clean Mildew Off Of Canvas
Rubbing alcohol and Borax can be used to remove mildew on washable canvas surfaces. White vinegar can also be used to remove mildew and deodorize canvas.
Before canvas is cleaned it should be dried in a warm, sunny location, and have any loose debris removed with a soft brush. Small items, such as canvas bags, can be cleaned using equal parts rubbing alcohol and water applied with a clean cloth. The item should be rinsed thoroughly with cold water immediately after cleaning.
Borax works well to treat larger mildew stains. If the item can be washed, 1 cup of Borax can be dissolved in a gallon of hot water and added to the wash cycle. Items that cannot be washed, such as seat cushions, can be cleaned with a mixture of 1 tablespoon of liquid dish detergent and 1 tablespoon of Borax dissolved in a quart of warm water. Apply the solution with a soft brush, and then rinse thoroughly with more warm water. The canvas should then be placed in a warm, sunny location to dry, with windows and doors left open to ensure the area has proper ventilation while the material is drying.
Undiluted white vinegar kills mildew and removes odors on canvas. Use a spray bottle to apply the vinegar on the affected areas. A clean, dry cloth will remove the mildew after the canvas has been treated.

How Do You Remove Black Mold From Canvas
Canvass materials are known for being tough and durable thus they are used in a variety of environments. Just like your other equipment, they also need proper maintenance to prolong their service life.

Removing Mold And Mildew Using White Vinegar
If its really too difficult to get the mold and mildew out, you can use white vinegar and bleach to clean your fabric, bimini frame, and boat seats. This type of mix will make a good bleach solution although the Environmental Protection Agency does not recommend using this. Bleach is known to kill only surface mold and will eventually come back. This means it will still grow back on the fabric.
For outdoor fabric, you can try to fill a spray bottle with water and white vinegar in equal parts. Its important to note that you have to use white vinegar and not the other types. Using soft brushes, you can gently rub the vinegar mixture until the surfaces are free of dirt. Be sure to have it completely dried under the sunshine to prevent moisture. If not, this will only lead to mold and mildew growing back.
If you are having a hard time checking which part of your fabric has stains, you can simply lay it flat on a small area. This will make it easier to clean and visually check remaining spores. Avoid laying the fabric on wood surfaces when you wash it. Vinegar and bleach can be strong when combined and can cause damage to the wood. Anyhow, a vinegar solution is a good choice to clean the fabric rather than taking the last resort of using bleach alone. Good luck in cleaning!

Clean Your Boat Bimini Top Without Using Bleach
First, why do I hate bleach for Bimini cleaning so much? Simple; the bleaching chemicals in the canvas stitches can weaken the thread and can fade the Bimini over time as well.
Bleach can be fine for countertops, but on vinyl, fabric, and cloth fabrics, anything a Bimini top may have in it can be very damaging!
This is why youre seeing so many pictures of seams in boat seats online that have begun to come apart. This is the harsh bleach that did this.
Tops from Bimini arent cheap. You can buy a patch, but youll save yourself some money if you can scrub the mold and mildew out of the canvas cover.
