What Is The Smallest Size Pontoon Boat

Types Of Trailers Available

What Size Boat Is BEST?

All pontoon trailers are not alike.

There are two different types of pontoon trailer:

  • Scissor/Up down trailer.

Whats the difference and why does it matter? Lets find out.

Scissor pontoon trailer

Scissor trailers, also known as up/down trailers, work by fitting between the tubes on the pontoon boat.

The trailer fits neatly underneath and between the 2 tubes. Obviously these trailers are not a good fit for tritoons.

The trailer is pretty hassle-free and offers the easiest way to trailer a pontoon boat, both on and off the water.

The bottom of the platform of the pontoon boat sits on the crossbeams of the trailer.

The good thing about this type of trailer is that the position of the boat does not have to be exact when you load it. Unfortunately though, this means potential stability issues when towing the boat. As the tubes sit on the outside of the trailer it makes the entire set-up a lot less stable than if the boat was fully contained on/within the trailer.

Rocking of your boat on one of these trailers is not uncommon when traveling at speed on the highway. This can feel a little unnerving when you are hauling a boat worth tens of thousands of dollars. Although the boat is stable this scenario is not ideal if you have to travel long distances as it makes for an uncomfortable ride.

Another good thing about a scissor trailer is that you can use it in very shallow water.

Small pontoon boats are safe enough because they are usually made for beginners. And they are difficult to turn over due to moderate speed.

The Key Takeaways From The Post

A boat can hold around 40 gallons of gas in its tank on average. But the range can vary from 5 gallons or less for a small boat to 250,000 gallons or more for a big yacht. Yet, most brands allow buyers to customize the boat to their needs, worrying less about fuel capacities.

Boats are not as fuel-efficient as cars. They consume a lot of gas compared to other vehicles due to traversing in the waters. Thats one of the main reasons why most boats have bigger fuel capacities compared to other vehicles.

Many small boats tend to use 3-8 gallons of gas per hour at cruising speeds, while faster boats like speed and motorboats can use 25-40 gallons an hour.

Depending on the boats weight, size, model, and, very importantly, the type of motor it has, the fuel burning rate changes drastically.

Palm Springs Portable Toilet:

The Palm Springs portable toilet is a nice and lightweight toilet perfect for use onboard a boat. This toilet has a 3-gallon freshwater tank and a 5-gallon waste tank.

This toilet flushes by releasing freshwater from the fresh water tank while simultaneously releasing the waste.

This toilet also has leak prevention and is made very durable. It also has a handle that makes it easier to transport the toilet on and off your vessel.

This toilet is also reasonably priced at around $75.00.

If buying used, be sure to inspect each element of the boat so that there isn’t anything wrong with it. Overall, most pontoon boats are built strong and last for many years.

    • Ensure you choose the right size boat.

Advantages Of Renting A Pontoon Boat

Renting a boat is also an option that is available.

Renting a boat means that you buy the right to use that boat for certain periods of time, but you will never actually own it.

    Some pros of renting include:

    • Expense:
    • It is less expensive when it comes to renting a boat over buying it. However, if you plan to rent regularly, this could add up and might be more expensive than buying. Make sure you know how often you plan to use the boat.
  • Look into your Options:
  • If you are not sure what type of boat, or even what size boat will best fit you and your needs, renting is a great option. This will allow you to try out some different things before you make a final decision.
  • No Maintenance:
  • Often when you rent a boat, you do not own it and are not in charge of its maintenance. You are likely to not even have to clean it.
  • No trailering:
  • If you rent a boat, you can visit new places and different bodies of water without having to trailer or haul your boat.
  • No Storage:
  • You will also not have to store your boat while you are not using it. This can become costly, especially if you live in a climate where you will have to winterize the vessel. Buying a slip and winterizing your boat can be very costly.
  • There are many benefits to renting a boat but there are also disadvantages.

If you rent a boat you will have to load and unload your equipment every time and you will never have the same sense of ownership in your vessel.
