Is Buying A Boat The Best Choice For You
The swaying palms, the bright sunshine, the abundance of waterways. There are many benefits of living in Florida, particularly when you live near the coast.
Of course, no one can fully appreciate Florida living without spending time ample outdoors and, more specifically, out on the surrounding waterways.
But just because you love boating does not mean you have to love being a boat owner. In fact, more and more lifelong boaters are learning the numerous benefits of joining a boat club.
Is owning a boat the right decision for you, or could you benefit from joining a club instead? Lets take a look at the most important factors:
Speak To A Membership Executive For Local Market Information
The membership executive in each local market knows all the available membership plans and associated costs, and will happily answer all your questions.
We understand that people are often reluctant to speak with a sales professional, but Freedom Boat Clubs membership executives are here to help you decide if a boat club is right for you or not. They can guide you through all the options, and explain the costs and benefits of each.
If the pricing or the membership plan doesnt suit your lifestyle, needs or budget, thats OK! The membership executive is just there to answer all of your questions, so you can make the best decision for you.

What Are The Extra Costs
The fuel used to power your boat is not included in the costs. Most members have to pay anywhere between $20 and $50 per outing, depending on the current gas prices and distance traveled. As a general rule, the majority of the boats in the fleet would need three to five gallons of gasoline burned for every hour.
In case you need to transfer to another location, be prepared to pay a transfer fee that is around $550.
How Can I Save Money
Groupons daily deals can be a great way to save on your day at the boat club. For instance, the club in Venice, Florida offered at some point a $159 trial membership which you could have taken advantage of.
For those who are looking for a good deal, it may be worth traveling 15 to 25 miles to another location where you could get a better deal. For example, in Florida, there are more than 10 different locations where you can get a quote.
Its always a good idea to ask about promotions before committing. You might be able to take advantage of lower rates if you negotiate.
There are many ways to get a discounted membership. Some members will sell theirs at reduced rates on Craigslist and eBay.

Freedom Boat Club Announces 250th Location Supported By Record Growth In 2020
Its no secret the marine industry has experienced an unexpected, albeit welcome, boom in 2020. Thats a good thing all around, and a byproduct of the industry surge has been the number of new boaters getting involved in the boating community.
Freedom Boat Club, a Florida-based members-only club with locations across the U.S, Canada, and Europe, has announced the opening of its record 250th location. The new location will be in Delran, NJ and will create access to the previously underrepresented Philadelphia market. The club is the largest and oldest club in the United States and operates by giving members access to boats and excursions without the burdens of full-time ownership. The company announced a record 61% increase in membership in 2020 since being acquired by Brunswick Corporation in early 2019.
Also in 2020, Freedom was named to Entrepreneur magazines first Top Growth Franchises list, which recognizes the 150 companies with the greatest positive franchise unit growth in North America over a three-year period.
The large uptick in marine sales is projected to carry into 2021 as manufacturers and dealers service a more localized marketplace created by the decrease in foreign travel. With that in mind, those considering getting into boating but are unsure about ownership may want to consider joining a club. You can get membership details on the Freedom Boat Club website.

Things Freedom Boat Club Membership Doesnt Include
Be aware that one thing is never a part of a Freedom boat club membership plan. It is the fuel you spend while sailing. It is tricky to calculate such an expense, but most boats in the club fleet burn 5 gallons of gas per hour.
So, you will probably pay $20 to $50 per outing, depending on desired distance traveled and current gas prices. However, you need to pay at least $550 to transfer to another location.
Most local clubs have fuel flow meters that initiate at check-out from the dock. As soon as you return, you need to have the device checked and pay for the fuel you used.

The Freedom Boat Club Story
Welcome to Freedom Boat Club Boating Made Simple®
Freedom Boat Club was first founded in 1989 in Sarasota, FL. It is the oldest and largest boat club in the nation. The vision and purpose in establishing the boat club model was simple and straightforward – to deliver a hassle-free recreational boating experience for its members.
At the time, the concept was considered revolutionary and break-through. Boaters were either traditional boat owners or friends of boat owners. There were no boat clubs, fractional boating, boating timeshare, or even many boat rental facilities. The exclusive fraternity of boat owners stored their vessels at marinas, home docks or at the yacht club. When Freedom Boat Club launched, this new offering presented an exciting new alternative that opened the waterways to newcomers as well as lapsed boaters.
As the organization began its initial growth, Freedom Boat Club was sold to an investment group. Over time, it became evident that the best leadership for this type of business model would require active engagement at the helm. John Giglio and Robert Daly had both been working for the investment operator and negotiated to buy the enterprise in 2011. Mr. Giglio bought Mr. Daly out in 2012 and became the sole President.
While the original mission has fundamentally remained the same, the composition and scope of Freedom Boat Club is continually expanding.

What are people saying about boating in Naples, FL?
This is a review for boating in Naples, FL:
“DOLPHIN, ECO, and ISLAND SHELLING – we actually had a good time. The guides we had, Chris and Sam, were really great. You could tell that they really studied their topic. We saw dolphins, saw some beautiful homes, , and great wildlife. We stayed on the boat for the shell island part, but most everyone else did do some shelling. Especially the young kids. It was on time, very economical, we used a Groupon coupon and got a great discount. I’d recommend it to anyone, esp people that are new to the area. We have just moved here so we’ve been trying to learn everything about this area. I’d highly recommend this tour.”
