FORT PIERCE – In 2016 longtime Treasure Coast visitors and boating enthusiasts, Ann and Don Spaeth, of Duchess County, NY, heard about the Freedom Boat Club of Sebastian. It wasnt long before they became members.

They loved the idea of having a boat available as well as the ability to choose the kind of boat and departure time that suited them best. Maybe it was a perfect day for fishing. Or maybe it was a great day to gather the family for an island picnic. Freedom Boat Club offered them so many options. Great boating, family fun and, best of all, no effort.

Ann Spaeth explains that they were so intrigued by the Freedom Boat Club concept and business model, they started doing some research into the company and discovered that it was the worlds oldest and largest membership boat club with over 30 years experience in the field. They also discovered that it offered franchise opportunities, and there were clubs up and down the coast of south Florida, including two on the Treasure Coast, one in Stuart and one in Vero Beach.

As it turned out, there was a franchise opportunity in Fort Pierce, and it didnt take long for the Spaeths to seize the opening. They recognized just how perfect a location Fort Pierce was, and how many different ways there were for residents and visitors alike to enjoy the beautiful waters.

They signed their franchisee paperwork in June of 2016 and opened to the public in September of 2016 with 4 boats and 8 members.
