Airboats In The Park:

The airboats in the Everglades is the most iconic form of transportation that you could ever see in a park or elsewhere. An airboat is actually a very shallow-draft vessel, having a large size propeller at the back that utilizes the air for propelling the boat. A number of old Floridians claims that they actually have invented a middle thing between a boat and an airplane. However, the airboat is known to be perfected in the year 1905.

Best Time To Visit The Everglades

What you should know when you visit the Everglades National Park is that there are two seasons: the dry season and the rainy season . During the dry season there are of course the most visitors, partly due to the warm winters that attract a lot of birds . During the rainy season there are a lot of insects and many tours under the guidance of the park rangers are no longer offered.

Mom and baby! Who says that alligators and crocodiles cant be cute?

Everglades National Park Coopertown Air Boats Tours Miami

Most tours last for 30-40 minutes which is a perfect amount of time to stay entertained on the water without getting bored. The best airboat tour of the Everglades should go for this amount as it is the perfect time for you not to feel bored.

During this time, a guide will give you lots of information about the Everglades. This is one of the big reasons I would recommend a tour. Our tour guide was fun and informative and told us lots of fun facts!

While spotting an alligator is never guaranteed , an airboat tour gives you the absolute best chance of seeing one pretty much anywhere in the Everglades.

We saw several alligators on our tour and our guide informed us that it is very rare not to see an alligator on a tour. Aside from alligators you can see several birds and fish on the tour.

Personally, I dont think it was actually the wildlife I ended up to be the most impressed with but the absolutely stunning scenery everywhere you look!

Around 7 Million People Use Water For Drinking Needs:

A tourist spot, yet the health of the park is a big deal for a very special reason. The reason is that million Floridians rely on the clean flowing water at the Everglades for fulfilling their drinking needs. This also is a bit of a concern as millions of tourist visiting the park every year carries a risk of making the water contaminated. However, the authorities at the park are doing a great job in order to keep it clean from any possible contamination.

Spending The Night In The Everglades

There are many possibilities to stay overnight, especially in Everglades City. Here you have both motels, hotels and resorts.

An even better idea is to camp in the Everglades! This can be done all year round, but during the rainy season it can be less pleasant. The Long Pine Key Campground and the Flamingo Campground are both accessible by car .

On top of that, the real adventurers can camp out in the wilderness as well! You only need to register in the Flamingo or Gulf Coast visitor center. During the winter months you have to pay fifteen dollars for a license and two dollars per day that you camp. During the summer months a permit is also necessary, but free! This way you can jump into your canoe or kayak at any time you want!

Staying overnight in the Everglades should really be on your bucket list. What a beautiful environment!

Why You Should Visit The Everglades National Park

The Everglades National Park includes one fifth of the original southern Everglades and is also the largest tropical wilderness in the United States. After Death Valley and Yellowstone it is also the third largest national park in the country. It is therefore not surprising that it is part of the UNESCO World Heritage. But what makes this park so special? Unlike many other national parks that aim to protect unique geographic features , the Everglades National Park was created to protect a fragile ecosystem. The park consists of wetland and forests that are fed by a river coming from Lake Okeechobee. So, in fact the Everglades are one big river, where the water constantly moves from the north to the south. It contains the largest mangrove ecosystem of the western half-front. 36 endangered or protected species have their home here, such as the florida panther, the American crocodile and the West Indian manatee. In addition there are 350 bird species, 300 different fish, 40 species of mammals and 50 species of reptiles. The perfect place for an adventurous boat trip, I would dare say!

Only a few accidents have happened in the Everglades, but always be smart about what youre about to do.
