The application shall be signed by the owner of the motorboat and shall be accompanied by a three year registration fee as required in Section 66-12-5.1 NMSA 1978. Upon receipt of the application in approved form, the division shall file it and issue to the applicant a certificate of number stating the number awarded to the motorboat and the name and address of the owner.

California Boat Registration Numbers

California vessel registration numbers issued must be displayed permanently attached to each side of the forward half of the vessel.

The boat registration number must be in a plain, vertical, block font as well as not less than three inches in height. It must be able to be read from left to right and be in contrast with the color of the background so it can be easily read.

There must be spaces or hyphens between the prefix, the number, and the suffix, for example: CF-1234-AA.

Nebraska Boat Registration Numbers

Texas Boat Registration Numbers

The Nebraska assigned registration number should be placed on each side of the front half of the vessel and reading left to right they should be the only numbers on the forward half of the vessel.

It should start with two capital letters “NB” followed by a hyphen or space and three or four digits, another hyphen or space and two more capital letters in a block style font, for example: NB 1234 AA.

Boat registration numbers should be in a contrasting color to the background as well at three inches in height.

Nebraska boating law states that except as provided in subsections and of this section and sections 37-1249 and 37-1250, every motorboat on the waters of this state shall be numbered and no person shall operate or give permission for the operation of any vessel on such waters unless the vessel is numbered in accordance with the State Boat Act or in accordance with the laws of another state if the commission has by regulation approved the numbering system of such state and unless the certificate of number awarded to such vessel is in full force and effect and the identifying number set forth in the certificate of number is displayed and legible on each side of the forward half of the vessel.

Hawaii Boat Registration Numbers

Hawaii boat registration numbers must be painted on or permanently attached to each side of the forward half of the vessel and must be read from left to right. Registration number should be the only numbers on the forward half of the vessel.

The registration number must be at least three inches in height and of block character font. Also, they must be of a contrasting color of the background. The boat registration numbers must stay clearly visible and legible.

The numerals appearing between the two sets of letters must be separated by hyphens or spaces, for example: HA-1234-AA.

West Virginia boating law states that every motorboat, as defined in this section, operating upon public waters within the territorial limits of this state shall be numbered as provided.

Illinois Boat Registration Numbers

Illinois boat registration numbers must be placed on each side of the vessel and they should be placed on the forward part of the hull and the only numbers placed in that area. They must be easily read from left to right. It must start with two capital letters followed by a space, four digits, another space, and end with two capital letters, for example: IL 1234 AA.

The registration number must be at least three inches high and in a block style font. The color must contrast with its background.

Illinois boating law states that it is unlawful operation of unnumbered watercraft. Every watercraft other than non-powered watercraft on waters within the jurisdiction of this State shall be numbered. No person may operate, use, or store or give permission for the operation, usage, or storage of any such watercraft on such waters unless it has on board while in operation.

Kentucky Boat Registration Numbers

HOW TO PUT FLORIDA REGISTRATION NUMBERS ON YOUR BOAT

Kentucky registration number assigned should be located on the bow of each side of the vessel they must be the only number on the front half of the bow.

Boat registration number should be easily read from left to right and in a position that it is completely visible. They should be in a plain block style font, a contrasting color to the boat, and three inches in height.

There must be a space or hyphen separating the letters and numbers, for example: KY 1234 AA.

Kentucky boating law states that every motorboat on the waters of this state shall be numbered and currently registered in accordance with the provisions of this chapter. No person shall operate or give permission for the operation of any motorboat on such waters unless the motorboat is registered and numbered in accordance with this chapter, or in accordance with a federally approvednumbering system of another state.

Arizona Boat Registration Numbers

Arizona boat registration numbers must be on each side of the forward half of the vessel and must read from left to right.

The boat registration number must be in block letters at least three inches high and of a contrasting color of the boat itself. The boat registration number should be clearly visible from 100 feet away during daylight hours.

The letters AZ and the suffix shall be separated from the numerals by a hyphen or equivalent space, for example: AZ-1234-AA.

Arizona law states: On receipt of the application in approved form with the applicable fees, the department or its agent shall enter the application on the records of its office and issue to the applicant two current annual decals and a certificate of number stating the number issued to the watercraft and the name and address of the owner. The owner shall display the assigned number and the current annual decals in such manner as may be prescribed by rules of the commission. The number and decals shall be maintained in legible condition. The certificate of number or commission approved proof of valid certificate of number, except as provided in section 5-371, shall be available at all times for inspection by a peace officer whenever the watercraft is in operation. No number issued by another state or the United States coast guard, unless granted exemption or exception pursuant to this chapter, shall be displayed on the watercraft.

Use Adhesive Designed For Your Inflatable Boat

Whether your boat is made of PVC or Hypalon, there is an adhesive designed for use with it. After all, many of these boats have glued seams. If you can get your hands on that kind of glue, it could help you attach your registration number easily.

If youre not sure how to do this, contact the manufacturer of your boat. They may be able to sell you an adhesive that will work. You can also look in your patch kit and try the adhesive provided there.

Follow the directions on the adhesive and make sure you dont stick anything to your boat other than the registration letters. Let the adhesive dry and you should be ready to go.

Your assigned number must be painted or permanently attached to each side of the forward top half of the boat. Numbers must be vertical block characters at least three inches tall that read from left to right. They must contrast with the background color and be distinctly visible and legible. Spaces or hyphens equal to letter width must separate letter groupings and numeral groupings.

Your assigned number consists of the prefix letters KA, one to four numerals and two suffix letters. For example: KA 123 AA or KA-123-AA.

A registration decal will also be issued. This expiration decal remains on your boat for the duration of the three-year registration period. Attach the decal as instructed on the back of the renewal decal.

Boats registered in Kansas must display only current registration decals. Sailboards shall have the decal attached to the front half of the top of the sailboard. The registration numbers are not required to be displayed on the sailboard.

Wisconcin boating law states that upon being issued a certificate of number card and awarded an identification number, the owner of the boat shall paint on or attach the identification number to each side of the forward half of the boat in the manner prescribed by rules promulgated by the department. The owner shall paint or attach the identification number so it is clearly visible and shall maintain the identification number in a legible condition at all times.
